Aboli is an evergreen plant native to the rain forests of central Africa. It has a large number of flowers on long stems that are usually arranged in large clumps. The flower clusters are often carried on long stalks, which can reach up to 4 feet high. The flowers have five petals and numerous stamens with yellow anthers. The most striking feature of the aboli plant is the way it forms its leaves: They are very thin and papery, looking more like a bunch of disconnected paper leaves than any other type of leaf. In fact, this type of leaf has been referred to by some botanists as “paper leaves.” Aboli plants grow best in moist, well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. They require little maintenance but will not do well if they are exposed to temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius).
