Neem Tree, Azadirachta indica, is a large tree that grows in warm climates. The Neem Tree is a drought-resistant tree that thrives in sandy soil and prefers full sun. It is an evergreen that can grow up to 20 feet tall, but most often grows to around 10 feet. Neem Trees are considered one of the oldest trees in India and Pakistan. They were first used as medicine by native peoples centuries ago and have been used as a pesticide by farmers for centuries because they contain natural insecticides that kill off insects by preventing their eggs from developing into adults or larvae. The Neem Tree’s leaves contain compounds called azadirachtinoids which are toxic to insects including aphids, spider mites, whiteflies and scales. In addition to this toxicity it also contains alkylresorcinols which are antifungal agents; these compounds act like antibiotics killing off fungi such as rust fungus or grey moulds which cause many diseases on crops like wheat, rice and corn. Neem leaves have been used as a pesticide since ancient times and have been found in archaeological sites dating back over 5000 years ago!
