Touch me not plant (Mimosa pudica) is a species of flowering plant in the legume family Fabaceae. It is native to Central and South America, with its range extending from Mexico to Peru and Bolivia. The plant has long, narrow leaves and produces small white flowers. Its leaves fold up when touched, making it appear dead or lifeless. Touch me not plant can be grown indoors or outdoors in pots or in the ground. It prefers full sun to partial shade but will tolerate some shade. It is drought-tolerant but will do well with regular watering during hot summer months as it tends to lose its leaves due to extreme heat. Touch me not plant does best when planted in fertile soil that drains well so it doesn’t sit in water for extended periods of time after rainfall occurs which may cause root rot or crown rot (when roots rot from being underwater).
